Thanks for the feedback guys, I won't be using upload mirrors any longer as it seems that it just tried to get you guys to install all sorts of nasty stuffs. I'll make torrents the official distribution source for the game and then for major builds (not experimentals) I'll probably use that crappy site (upload mirrors) with huge disclaimers about how it's not recommended and spyware filled for those that insist on not using torrents (for technical or personal reasons).

I am satisfied and pleased with the community's desire and ability to seed the game torrents (within only 2 - 3 hours, there are 20+seeders, after a day or two 40+) so availability is never an issue.

Just wanted you all to know that it was never my intention to offer such a crappy download. In the past this site had never such a plethora of issues but obviously things have changed. I appreciate all the bug reports as well, I've been looking at them but it's just a busy weekend so I haven't been able to poke at the game too much. Tomorrow and Tuesday evening should give me a bit more time to dive back into coding ^_^

  1. I'm having a problem with character creation. When I hit the 'Next: Character Background' button at the bottom right of the first page I'm getting the following error.

System.InvalidOperationException: An error occurred creating the form. See Exception.InnerException for details. The error is: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.VisualBasic.PowerPacks.Vs, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. ---> System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.VisualBasic.PowerPacks.Vs, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

This occurs in both .51a and .52a versions. I don't know if this is because I'm trying to run the game on my crappy laptop or not, but because my pc isn't working right now I can't check to see if this is a hardware problem. Both are running Windows7 and I never had a problem using saved files for the .51a build (other than the reported bugs).

    1. I had that issue and reinstalled the power pack from the downloads page and redid .net 4.0

  2. Yeah, that was just a bug caused by a lack of powerpacks :P. I'm sadly dependent on it now since I use it in most of my forms but it seems strange and almost silly that microsoft doesn't bundle powerpacks with windows 7 (yet they include .net 4.0). All powerpacks does really is allow you to draw lines and other shapes on forms (oh and cause crashes for those w/o it ><)

  4. Why not use https://bayfiles.com/ as backup of the torrents?

  5. While Multiupload's .com domain has been (hopefully temporarily) redirected to theinternetvshollywood.com, its .nl domain still works as it should, and AFAIK none of the six sites it uploads to have any problem with viruses/malware. I really wish there was a multiple upload site that included Mediafire, since that's the best file upload site IMO.

  6. Well, I'm glad there's still going to be an option besides Torrenting. I agree that in general it can be a bit faster/easier/better than upload sites, but unfortunately my school has this policy about "Illegal downloading" where they can come in and wipe my hard drive. While it'd be hard to track "Illegal downloading" as such, it was obvious from the way they talked about it ("I wouldn't do it at home either, because then when you come back to school the program might open up again" etc.) that they mean "Torrenting" isn't allowed, and that'd be much more possible to point out if you know what you're looking for.
