Hey all,

I'm sorry about the long bout of silence but I was stuck in a state of limbo, wrestling with what direction I was taking with Pornarium. I started this project over a year and a half ago and have dedicated perhaps far more hours then I want to admit and have actually invested far more money into the project then I'd also like to admit. As time war on, my work-life has taken a turn for the positive. I've gotten a better position and have become more financially secure. Unfortunately, this has had a negative effect on my free-time. As the summer wore on and I made it through the holidays I noticed increasingly my time had been increasingly split between friends, dating, work, my own relaxation, and working on Pornarium. As I chose to work on Pornarium I felt my personal life begin to suffer, I had to make decisions such as seeing my friends or working on the game. It became clearer that increasingly this would have made me live a life a solitude had I chosen the latter, I began to withdraw from the game as I spent more time away from it.
As January passed I wrestled with this dilemma further, I did take small amounts of time to work on the game but sadly I just felt it difficult to continue. Now February is almost halfway past and I still find it difficult to sacrifice my social life for the game. A 40+ hour work week virtually every week is a blessing in this economy, but combined with travel to and from work  it doesn't leave me a ton of free time. I simply cannot in my current state devote a serious amount of time or effort to the game. I want to keep going but find myself growing detached.
Am I calling it quits? I suppose for now the safest way to answer this question is yes. The true answer is that I would like to continue working when time permits, but honestly I cannot predict when that will happen. I said after the New Year in December and a month has passed with little to show. It's not fair to keep asking you all to wait like this so I won't any further. Should I decide to continue working on the project I'll post immediately. For now expect my hiatus to last a few months, perhaps longer. I'm sorry to let you all down but this is the only decision that feels right for me.

  2. Well thats a shame, I really like your game. Reallife stuff is always more important though, so I can completely understand your decision.
Thank you for this nice game so far and good look for your future.

  4. Shucks... I've really enjoyed the game you've been making for the past year and a half. But as one who also works 40+ hours a week (and taking night classes to boot), I can hardly find the time to play games, let alone write and design them. Thanks for sticking it out as long as you did. I'll still swing by every now and then hoping for an update.

  5. Brings a tear to my eye to see it die, for now or forever.
But i read your message as a message for myself as i neglect my real life locked in my computer.
As real friends only come once in a life time we must cherish them if not who will?
Lastly i thank all community that supported this project to the end and to TacoKing the respect of all the work, money, sweet and tears put on this FREE game for the fans, i bid you good luck and a successful life.
    Best regards Dizarus.

  10. We're not heartless bastards, you know. Not all of us. If I were in your place I would have probably done the same. The game is lots of fun as it is now and I dont really know what else could be added to further improve it. You made splendid job creating and polishing it so thanks for all your hard work and dont feel sorry for us. Enjoy your life and dont ever choose pleasing anonymous pervs over hanging out with friends :)

    1. Although it feels rude to ask for a source code, I also feel such a good project shouldn't end so soon. Like a phoenix rises from its ashes, this may be a good opportunity for the game to expand itself outward. It wouldn't be too bad of an idea to make it a community project, so to speak of course.

  13. Take your time and enjoy your life - you'll get more free time sooner or later, and if you don't, it's been a good run.

  14. Good Luck and thanks for your time you give to us!

  15. As someone mentioned earlier, if you do come to the decision that you won't be working on this any longer, please do take the time to release the source code for us all to expand on this game. It'd be great to see this continue on, even if you're not there anymore to guide it.

    1. Hey, dont be rude.

Also, is it possible for you to release the sorcecode? Maybe someone else with a little more time on their hands want to pick it up in the future.

Goodbye Taco. Glad to see that you have better things to do than code porn ;p

  19. Yeah time is expensive...
But life is more important than a game that's for sure, so good luck in your job and social life and thanks for all your work in this game!

  20. Hnnnnnng my heart broke from reading this

As much as i hate to see this game go i can recognize the necessity of it. I guess all i can really do is you you the best of luck in life.

If i might make a request, perhaps you should release the source code for the game for the community to continue where you left off. Just a thought.

    See you later, space cowboy.

  21. Jesus what a bullshit... If only there were updates to the game I wouldnt get mad... But I find either that you suck as programmer and takes too long to write small portions of code, or you trying to pose off as a good boy who doesnt have like 6 hours a week to work a little in the code of the game... A shame cause the game was getting really nice... It bad coded, but the writing was really nice and sensual of course

  22. Another one bites the dust. I think most of us saw your 'goodbye' post coming months ago. I'm not sure why I even keep tabs on these small independent projects these days, because they all go unfinished. All of them.

Call it what you want, but in the end it's bad planning; making games requires work and commitment. I'm not sure why amateur developers keep thinking they can slam out a quality game in a couple weekends. If the project was eating too much of your time, you ask for help and/or donations. You don't stay silent for months and then just post, "Welp, this is just too hard. I quit." Someone else could have taken over the project in this time. At this point interest in the project is nearly dead, and very few will bother even considering taking it up.

  23. Pft, "what a bullshit..." lol. There would be plenty of interest generated with just one post to FP or ULMF or WWOEC, stating that the source code is released or that development is going to continue and is looking for some testers. Even these haters would be too tempted to resist seeing what becomes of it, again. Depending on how much work is then done on it, the more interest it would get. They'd just like you and the entire world to think that developers will never be forgiven if they let anonymous fappers around the world down...

Fuck em. Good luck to you in your real life, and further pursuits. Don't let the fuckers get you down, or tell you what to do. Cheers!

  24. I've decompiled the code and I'll try to rebuild it as something more useable and correct all the bugs. I don't know if the author would let me publish it though...

    1. If the source code is released, you got permission.
Do whatever you want with it. I would gladly see what you can do with it

    2. Source code is not released. Decompiling means taking the EXE and working backward, creating new source out of it. (This is quite easy in the language Pornarium is written in.)

  25. Wow. Dude works for a year and a half on this game and all he gets is 90% bitching ingrates and random sponges asking him to hand over his code and step off.

    Sorry TK. You deserve better.

    1. The only thing I want is correct all the bugs and leave the game as it is right now. I do not entend to take ownership of it. Go play the latest version and you'll see it's full of bugs. If you can't understand this keep your mouth shut.

  26. I hope you eventually get time to continue working on this game. I found it quite fun and enjoyable, and an interesting concept.

I don't know of any games that might be remotely similar. This game just had a uniqueness in the way the player encountered situations, such as the sex system.

Thank you for what you have accomplished in making this game, and I wish you the best of luck in real life.

  27. Damn. I run a small indy game myself and I can honestly say: Those kind of bullshit comments are all to common everywhere. One man gives his last to creates something and all he gets in return is bitching from nullunits who haven't ever created anything themselves.

Let me tell you all something: If the man has found a steady income in these days, he can count himself lucky and did the right thing. And one more thing to all you little bitchboys from the bottom of my heart and my own experience with your ilk: Fuck You all!

    1. Too true. Idiots who condemn someone for making the choice that is best for himself should all rot.
Anyways, downloaded the game a couple days ago, went through a couple characters, great game. Thank you for putting the work you did into it, it shows that you put your all into what you do. Hope your future works out for you, peace.

  28. This sucks... I was really looking forward to it too, I haven't been back here in a while due to net issues so I am sat to see it die. I do hope that another person will be allowed to carry the torch as it was very nicely set up and a very ambitious idea.

  29. Please release the source code. Even on some place like /v/ on 4chan or give it to Fenoxo. He has this blog linked on his site which tells me he must be quite fond of the game.

Ultimately you have nothing to lose, but the community has everything to gain.
