Pornarium 0.45a Released

I've posted version 0.45a.

It add's specials / items to combat but be warned when attempting to use these are they require a lot of testing. In addition to these changes there are several bug fixes, I hope this fixes the equipment bug when saving and loading but I can't promise that yet. It seems to appear mostly on windows XP machines. I made a change to the way it saves / loads files such as the quicksave, quickload, and equipment file so hopefully this will work. There are still a bunch of bugs from 0.43a that haven't been fixed yet but I have tackled a few.

Also, Leroy's work (two new highway events) should also be in the game as well (not to mention some work by Malkadrix and GreenFeline). I may post a new version via a torrent tomorrow if there are any really easy to fix bugs should I discover any before leaving on vacation, but no promises.

I personally recommend using the torrent file to download the game rather then those mirrors but it is also available there. The torrent is going to be a bit slow until we get some more seeders but it should be up to speed shortly.

  1. Just thought I'd confirm that the item duplication bug is indeed fixed for me... But only when starting a new game. Not a big deal. Awesome work! Keep it up!

    1. Well, the duplication bug seems to have gone, but now there's an issue with items disappearing and showing up equipped in the wrong slots. Just loaded a game and it's showing a leather vest as accessory 1. There's definitely a bug in the XML parsing code for save loading. Are you using a library to export your VB objects to XML for the save files? Just glancing at the files themselves, it looks like you're using Array indices to identify equipped items, but it's probably not safe to rely on that for XML serialization since order might not be guaranteed. If you want to stick with the integer IDs and the XML save format, you might try storing the items as a dictionary/map so that the IDs are part of the data, and not just a consequence of the data structure. Sorry to nitpick, but I code C#/Java for a living, and I've had to deal with similar issues before.

  2. Orc skin gives a player negative skill modifiers per each save/load of the game unless the entire .exe is restarted.

  4. The encounter with the fish woman says you fall asleep and wake up with no recollection... Yet your FP don't restore after sleeping in the encounter?

  5. Just to signal some bugs in the stats :
    - Height: 2016cm. (instead of the 168cm choosen)
    - some miscalculation in skills and sex skills for exemple : Athletics: 1 (base skill) + 0 (skill modifier) + 1 (Agility bonus) + 1 (Strength bonus) + 0 (equipment bonus) = 2 [ x 1.1 multiplier] (instead of 3)

    Nice work anyway. It's already a good game =)

    1. Another bug : each time you enter your apartment (or go again on the apparent page after a shower for example) a lucid drams roll occurs.

      same at the tower of phalos (magic roll). I think it's a preventive roll for the game but it's permit to know in advance if it'll work... delaying them (even only for the display should be better)
