USC Request

Dreams
   The dream world will be expanded somewhat soon. Over 7 new locations are being added to the dream world. If you have an idea for a dream you wish to have represented in the dream world (anything but fetishes on the FAQ which will never be added) send me an e-mail :) 

   I do not actually need any USC as I have things planned but if you would like to have an effect on the dream world this may be a good time. I can give no deadline on when the Dream World's expansion will occur, but it will be after the Pornicle content is fleshed out (One facet each of the Backwater District and University are still required to be completed). If you do decide to help, make sure to read the page on User Contributions. I will let you know what settings are available should you be interested (as in what types of locations there will be) Also, let me know the following in the e-mail: 
  • What name do you want to be credited on the "Thank You" page.
  • If you want to be credited in the Update Notes specifically (as in, "X has submitted a new event in the Dreamworld's <area>!") or if you simply want people to know that you have made a new event for them to find.

Exciting news everyone! Thanks to Echo's, my own, and several other's combined efforts, the next after next or next after next after next build will be significantly more image-tastic! If anyone wishes to contribute or collaborate in finding specific images, feel free to email me~


Also, now I'm totally not regretting sorting my 1Tb of pr0n into about a gazillion sub-folders. It's finally paying off ♥



Version 0.21.2a Released

More Bug Fixes
   I fixed a ton of bugs today. There are still some left but I'm really starting to make a good dent in them.

Some larger changes / fixes:
  • For now at least, I have doubled the bonuses (but not the penalty) for the character customization choices. Since I've done this, I've enabled the Fountain again in the park for each character. Should I ever revert these changes, those characters should keep these bonuses regardless.
  • Loads should work for pre-0.21.1a games. Sadly I had to tinker with the save / load code in 0.21.1a and it caused these issues. 
  •   Quick Save (F5) / Quick Load (F9)

Hello folks!

Nope, I am actually not dead, contrary to popular belief (I have no idea if that’s true; I just said it for dramatic effect... did it work?), I’ve just been busy with other stuff.

I know the question now is: “Is the cow-girl event done?” and the sad answer is unfortunately no. I’ve not written for some time now. In fact, I’ve not done anything on the project for the past month or so (or more, I lost count).

But, as it stands, I’ve regained my interest in this project and I shall hopefully soon continue writing and finish the tale I’ve started. After one… small, tiny, almost inconsequential little thing:

Yup, I’m completely and utterly redesigning the entire GUI, and if there is one thing that is for certain, then that is that I’ve got NO clue whatsoever what I’m doing. This might take some time :P

For a bit more of an in-depth explanation, have another picture.

Now you might question the size of the buttons and their ability to display the respective text, and you are correct in that regard. And that is what I’ll use this newfangled contraption I’ve got for, namely a drawing board. I’ll draw icons :3

The purpose of this new UI is simply streamlining. Gone are the days of clicking a button to reveal a list of options, then picking one to have a popup-screen appear. Now, if you click either of the round buttons on the left (other left) side, the plan is to have a window zoom open that overlays the picture screen.

The compass will work by displaying the directions currently available, and by mousing over the circles you will get the information that tells you where you will be taken.

The three buttons below the health-bars will choose what information is displayed in the textblock underneath in one fancy way or another.

The sun/moon/8hr are radio buttons that will determine for how long you sleep when clicking the sleep button.

So, this is my pet-project of sorts. Since Tacoking is a lot more experience with coding, he will be helping me a lot to get this project up and running. The hope is that as I get more experienced, I will inherit the GUI-design aspect of this project.

So, any thoughts? Comments? Do you like it or does it look fugly as all heck? Why?

0.21.1a Released (Bugfixes)

Fixed a bunch of bugs, there are still many more to quash but I'm getting there. Check the known bug list so that you don't report bugs that are already there (I have not fixed them all yet), but if something was purportedly fixed and it clearly was not let me know.

New Poll: What do you want next?

   I think I will continually post a new poll asking you all what you'd like to see next, at least for awhile, to help guide the game toward what you all would like. I'll explain the choices for this poll below in brevity:

  • Combat System
    • I will work on adding in the game's combat system, this one is fairly self explanatory.
       
  • Magic System
    • I will add magic to the game. This will feature magic in the sex system, combat (though combat need not be implemented first), and while walking around. Players will be able to pull up a magic menu while on the main screen to cast various spells. They will function like items and occasionally NPC interactions will feature their use.
       
  • Equipment System
    • This will add equipment to the game which will like most RPGs, modify your attributes, skills, and even sex skills. Certain pieces of equipment may even allow different actions in combat, in the sex system, while walking around, and even during NPC dialogues.
       
  • Tinkering Tradeskill
    • This tradeskill will be a bit different then alchemy and cooking. It will allow you to build things somewhat in an ad hoc fashion. You may encounter a destroyed bridge and have the option to use the tinkering skill to repair it (after gathering materials). I also plan to add various workshops throughout the game which will have different options as to how to improve various pieces of equipment or craft new items.
       
  • More Stuff to do!
    • This is a simple "add more stuffs!" choice. If you guys vote on this I'll spend two weeks (two Monday updates) simply adding new stuff to do instead of working on any features myself (though other team members are free to work on what they want). Bug fixes will still happen as I don't really like bugs all that much, but I will not work on any features what so ever for a couple weeks if you choose this option. New content could include anything from new items, actually finishing areas, and adding new areas. Not voting on this option will not preclude me from adding new things but it won't be my main focus per se otherwise. After two weeks have passed, I'll add another poll with this as an option. If I get tired of adding new stuff and want to work on adding new features, I will remove this option from the poll choices.


During the remainder of the poll's duration, I will be working on adding new things and bug fixes, with a heavy weight toward bug fixes.

Pornarium 0.21a Released

Update Focus


    The main focus with this update is the new character creation system. It allows you to define your character a bit more then the old one, and select some background information to give yourself some attribute bonuses and penalties. Some of the bonuses and penalties are a bit of a stretch (as in they don't make the most sense) but I tried to make it interesting. The penalties are mostly arranged in such a way that if you focus on one thing, instead of getting a huge minus to one aspect of your character you will get several minor penalties to many things. This is by design.
   I know some people may not be too keen on penalties, but I really don't think they will be that severe...and I do kinda like them :P. That said, if you really hate a particular choice OR all of the choices, each section allows you to select a neutral choice devoid of all bonuses and penalties.
  • Added the new character creation system.
    • Known Issue: No images present yet.
    • Known Issue: Don't hit cancel on height / weight prompts, it will crash the game. If you need to redo them you can at the end of character creation.
  • Added Eye Color
  • Hair now grows as time passes (optional, disabled by default. Can be set at character creation or at the barber.)
  • Added a barber to change hairstyles.
  • A few minor bug fixes, including hopefully an alchemy fix.

Next Update

   The next update, 0.21.1a will mainly focus on bug fixes, there is a pretty hefty bug list. I have a lot of time this week so I plan to get another bug fix build out as soon as possible, it will definitely be before next Monday. If time permits, I'll add some new stuff in 0.21.1a :)

Expect 0.21a later tonight ^_^

 Just a quick update. 0.21a will be out by 2:00am EST time tomorrow morning. It will feature:

  • Experimental new systems (don't use them unless you love bugs :P)
    • New character creation (old is still in place though), lacks graphics but otherwise should work.
    • Attribute, Skill, and Sex Skill multipliers (both positive and negative) after character creation.
    • A "fountain of youth" in the Park. It doesn't really make sense why it's there,  but it allows you to remake your character once so it works with the new stuff.  If you just want to try the new stuff, make a new save right before the fountain so you can test the new stuff out.
    • Hair! Hair now can grow, and increases in length every two weeks. A new barber has been added in Pornicle to cut, dye, and style your hair...even remove it if or cause your hair to grow if you never had hair before. (optional)
    • Eye color! You can set your eye color at character creation. There will be special eyedrops added later in the game likely through  the alchemy system so you'll be able to change your eye color.

0.20.4a Released

Update Focus
   0.20.4a is yet another bug fixing update, though a few small new things were added. I don't claim to have all the bugs fixed yet, but I'm starting to make some good progress I think. If the bugs seem to be dying out, I will focus more on putting the new content in the game. If I need to, I'll make a 0.20.5a instead of working on 0.21a, though I hope that the game will be somewhat more stable now.

Pornarium Bug Matrix

 So as I've been fixing bugs, I've been thinking it would be a good idea to make it possible for me to collect every bug in one place, thus I created this program. It's a small file but what it will allow you (and me) to do is to create simple Pornarium Bug Files (.pbug) and then share them with me via email or by linking them. It's probably a buggy program so I won't put it on the downloads page, but if anyone wants to toy with it feel free. I'll be using this from now on to at least store bug reports on my end for easy fixing.

An update will still be arriving tonight / early Tuesday morning (most likely early Tuesday) sometime before 2AM EST.

So what is Updated Character Creation?!

Updated Character Creation
   I hope this post won't disappoint anyone...though I'm sure it won't...in fact I think it may even make some people happy ^_^. Character creation will get a huge overhaul first, it's rather clunky and downright terrible. Here is what will change:


  1. The character creation screen will be destroyed! Gone, wiped out! Never to return.
  2. You will first be prompted to enter your name.
  3. You will be asked to physically describe yourself (options will appear to enter your own height and weight rather then being defined by buttons. These will be limited to something like 4' 0" - 7' 0" and 90lbs - 300lbs respectively).
  4. EDIT: You will be asked to choose a hip ratio and shoulder ratio as well, I will also consider adding in some attribute to describe your ass at this time (i.e. firm, plump, bubbly, etc.)
  5.  You will be given a choice to select a hair style.
  6. You will be given a choice to select an eye color.
  7. You will then be asked several questions about your upbringing. These will give you various stat multipliers / penalties. These multipliers will actually have an effect on your character and will actually increase or decrease your attributes beyond the caps for certain areas. These multipliers can be as high as 15% (so in Pornicle for example, if you have a 15% strength modifier your strength can increase to 23). While this won't be as huge in Pornicle, once you can (finally) leave Pornicle and the cap becomes 50 (and then 100, and so on and so on) this will become more meaningful. 
  8. Other questions will have other benefits / penalties depending on your choices.

   If you've already done character creation and don't want to read all of the choices available, I will provide tooltips on each button describing what advantages or disadvantages will be given to your character so that you don't need to carefully read everything twice.


But my character is already made!! Do I have to remake it?!

   No! Thanks to the flexible event system, I can actually make a special "fountain of youth" that I will place in the Pornicle Park. This won't stay there forever but will be there for long enough so that people can remake their character if they need to. Drinking from this fountain will cause your character to enter character creation again.

When will this be completed?

  I learned from last time that giving anything a deadline is a bad idea. I will begin working on it on the side and when it's 100% completed it will appear. While it is under construction I may provide an option to test it, but it will come with a disclaimer and probably require you to type something like: "I understand this is an experimental and broken feature and probably won't work" before you are able to use it :p After 0.20a is stabilized, I will begin implementing this system in tandem with the actual game and it will not interfere with the game itself (unless you figure out how to access it ahead of time and use it to break your game).

0.20.3a Released

Update Focus:

The main focus for this update was bug fixes galore. Many crashes have been fixed (hopefully all of them) as well as many other bugs. While there are still a lot more bugs to fix before the game becomes stable, it's getting there. The sex system & arousal bar should no longer be causing weird crashes (though it's possible it may with the priapis shroom special ability) and character creation should finally be back to normal.

I have added some USC that was submitted by Kreeves prior to this update. There is now a chance to seduce a police officer (if you wish naturally) if you would like to try and secure an early release. Be warned that successfully seducing the officer will not be easy. In addition to this, those of you with extra EP to spend can try and bribe your way out of jail (I have not edited the arrest text yet so it mentions paying a fine to be released, this will be removed in future versions). Bribes should be made carefully...not bribing enough when you have a hefty amount of time left to serve in jail will just result in wasted EP. The Pornicle Police also do not look kindly to prisoners who are particularly lustful, so you may find it harder to bribe your way out of prison if you are prone to succumbing to your urges.

I have not changed the bug page much other than bumping it up a version number. Hawtstuff worked very carefully with me to fix a ton of bugs so this was mostly an internal bug fixing session. I will go over the bug reports on the bug page for the next version. Hopefully they [the bugs] will stop appearing so frequently as the updates increase in number.


What's Next:

In 0.20.4a I want to fix the milk bugs completely (they are a bit better now but still waaay off) and then fix some bugs with the nurse event. After that, I want to fix as many of the remaining bugs as possible. I hope that 0.20.4a will be the last major bug fix update. After that, I hope to move on to 0.20.5a will feature new stuff to do. After that there will be a bug fix update (or two if needed) for the new stuff and it will be on to 0.21a (which will be publicly released).

Back!

I'm back from vacation! Today's Monday update is going to be really simple as I still technically am on vacation until tomorrow :P.

I plan to collect the bug report data and put up a new build tomorrow fixing yet more bugs (I still am off, but the tiredness that comes from traveling will mostly be over after a good night's rest). If repairing the bugs isn't that bad I'll start migrating some new content / activating it. At the top of the list are the sex system bugs. It's got a decent way to go before it's not buggy...I will get those bugs squashed though (though probably not 100% by tomorrow).

There are some other things I will add in the near future, primarily an awesome map sent to me by Olivia. While the map is completed, I don't want to implement it in a haphazard / crappy way...it wouldn't be fair to Olivia for all the work they did on it. That said, I probably will tie a picture of it to a university event so you can get a peak at it ;).

If I called them...

...Tuesday updates would they be on Wednesday?

   Sorry for the late update, I realized shortly in my coding endeavors that I needed to touch the game's saving / loading code...something I dread. I was able to get it to work but I'm really not good at that part of coding so it took me quite some time (that and I kinda broke it at first). It works again and character creation should be back to normal. If your newly made character was stuck in limbo from a previous version, you will shave to remake the character unfortunately. This consumed most of my time tonight so I didn't really get much done, but I shall link the game to hopefully finally fix this part of the game.


Development Cycle
    I was talking with the others who have been helping me with the game and I've come to the conclusion that I really didn't like the totally isolated development cycle I took the past two months, it made me somewhat quieter and less active here than I would have liked. I've changed my mind (yet again) on how I would like the development to keep progressing. 
   I will continue making updates and bug fixes (especially quality of life ones) but I will not always release new stuff until it's ready (instead only releasing bug fixes). I think being more involved with the community is what made this project more fun for me in the first place (you may have noticed I'm once again posting a lot more :P) and my secluded programming cave just didn't work as well as I'd hoped. I'll keep fixing bugs and adding new stuff to the game when I return from vacation :)

Pornarium 0.20.2a Released

0.20.2a Focus: Bug Fixes!

Focus Highlights
  • Arousal Bar no longer causes the game to crash
  • Attribute / Skill / Sex Skill / Item windows should now update properly.
  • Working in the Brothel should now properly award money (though buying prostitutes is still very buggy)

Other Notable Changes

  • Character Creation has been modified significantly (this is NOT the character creation revision you are voting on though, this is a quality of life change)
    • The "Begin Game" button always appears now, it just states that you need to choose more options first if you haven't picked all of them.
    • Moving the mouse cursor over the "Begin Game" button will spawn a tooltip shortly, detailing what still needs to be picked before you can begin the game.
    • WARNING: There is a known issue I didn't fix before the patch went out which causes the game to not change the button back to it's old state. I do not think I will hotfix this (see next subsection of this post)
  •  Edit: Doh, I accidentally tagged one of Kreeves' marketplace event with the wrong picture ><

0.20.3a

   On Tuesday, I am going on vacation with some friends and will be gone for one week (it's definitely needed).  During that time I will be out of state will not have internet access via computer (only phone). Responding to posts / e-mails will be too tedious using that method so I won't answer them for a week...but I shall return with vigor! I will still release 0.20.3a tomorrow before I depart but will leave the link for 0.20.2a up just in case 0.20.3a is ultra bugged. 0.20.3a will contain whatever I can stuff into it. I'll elaborate more on what I plan to do with future updates but for awhile until I get what I consider an acceptable amount of (mostly) bug free content into the game I will continue public updates for quite some time. I'll ramble about this more tomorrow in the Monday update (or perhaps later today)

Version 0.20.1a released.

I've been busy fixing a ton of bugs, I spent a couple hours tonight compiling / fixing a bunch of them. There are a lot more to go, but the  game is slowly getting more stable again, thank you for all your help finding all of these bugs :)

Note: The game is still what I would consider way to buggy to download. If you still choose to do so, please keep this in mind.

An explanation of the poll: Which "new" feature do you want added first?

Obviously my main focus right now is making everything right with the latest version as there are so many bugs it's crazy. That said when I do look toward the future I wanted to ask you all what you would like to see improved or added first. Here is a brief description of each poll question...

  • Updated Character Creation
    • The new character creation planned will feature a myriad of "choices" you make as you grow up which determine things like your gender, height / weight/ and starting stats.
    • I am also toying with a new system in which you would get permenant % bonuses or penalties to various attributes that would also modify your cap for that attribute.
  • Combat System
    • Fairly self explanatory: Fight things! Win! Profit!
  • Magic System
    • Will allow the ability to cast spells in combat, in the sex system, and in the normal game's screen.
  • Equipment
    • I think this one is obvious as well, wear armor, clothing, weapons, etc.
  • Tinkering Tradeskill
    • Use the tinkering skill to make things. It will be different than alchemy and probably involve more real world uses (building inventions on  the fly to accomplish things) but it will also have some item generating uses when applicable.

Knowing this, if you need to change your poll answers it should be possible.

I plan to implement these based on popularity and will probably do this in the future with further new ideas. I want all the features enabled eventually but I figured I'd give you all a chance to determine when ^_^

Version 0.20.1a coming soon

There certainly are a ton of bugs, I was pretty much expecting that though. While I don't want to put a time frame on it yet, I hope to fix all or at least most of these bugs in the next day or two if all goes well. Please do try to keep all your bug reports in the bug thread to make it a bit easier for me to keep it organized, I'll try and keep updating that page throughout the day so I have a list of things to fix.

Hotfix #1 for 0.20a

I still don't recommend you download the new version  yet as it's too buggy (that is why it is not available on the downloads page but is still available if you look), but if you did anyways here is a hotfix to help fix some stuffs that were wrong with it.

Sorry about all the bugs ><. This hotfix should help, though if for whatever reason it doesn't work let me know. Notes for the hotfix are on the updates page.

This hotfix will only work with 0.20a.

Hotfix Instructions
  • You must load version 0.20a at least once before trying to patch the game if you are downloading it for the first time.
  • You must extract this file to the same directory as Pornarium. 
  • Click on Pornarium Patcher and select your old Pornarium exe file. 
    • NOTE: The patcher will make a backup. This backup will be overwritten if you try to patch it again so be careful!
  • The game should be updated.
